The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) provides community members with an up close and personal look at police work and the Morgan Hill Police Department. The Academy does not train citizens to be future police officers. It is designed to inform citizens about Police Department policies and procedures, foster community support, and provide safety awareness, by allowing citizens to participate in practical police training and education.
The Academy also provides citizens who complete the program with the possibility of becoming a member of the Volunteers in Policing (VIP) program. The VIP program is an active partnership between the Police Department and Community Members.
The next Citizen's Academy is scheduled for August 27th to November 19th!
The CPA generally meets at the Police Department one night each week during its 3 month session. Registration will be limited to a manageable number of participants and priority is given to Morgan Hill residents.
All Citizens Police Academy applicants are carefully screened and are required to consent to a background investigations check.
