Reroofing your home by contractor?
If you are going to have a contractor do the work, the
contractor should obtain the permit for you. If you obtain
the permit for the contractor, you are responsible that
the contractor's work meets code requirements.
Reroofing your home yourself?
The building division needs to know how many squares of
roofing you are going to install and what type of roofing
you are going to use. One square equals 100 square feet.
Example: A 2,000 sq. ft. home equals 20 squares. If you
live in or near the hills of Morgan Hill, the roof covering
required is to be class "A" roofing (fire resistive).
