COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT

Every year, the City of Morgan Hill receives an allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the federal government through the Santa Clara County, Office of Affordable Housing. The City will receive approximately $138,090 in CDBG funds from the County. CDBG funds can be used for a variety of projects including, but not limited to, non-public services such as new housing developments, housing rehabilitation, acquisition of property, historic preservation, economic development activities, community facilities such as El Toro Youth Center, Senior Center, and infrastructure. Projects and programs funded with CDBG monies must benefit persons at or below 80% of the area median income or alleviate slum and blight from the community. The City may use up to 15% of its annual allocation for public service activities such as domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters and youth service programs.. The application cycle begins December of every year. Only 501c3 agencies are eligible to apply for CDBG funds.

Applications and/or a list of currently funded agencies can be requested by calling (408) 776-7373 and asking for information on the City's CDBG Program.
