Youth Action Council (YAC)
What do YAC Members Do?
- Encourage teen leadership and responsibility through involvement
- Explore and identify issues and concerns of special importance to teens and communicates those issues to the Parks and Recreation Commission
- Look for ways to promote mutual understanding, respect, and communication with teens of all cultures and backgrounds
- Create new youth and teen programs
- Organize special events to serve the needs of teens in the community
- Develop community assets
- Involve youth in leadership roles for planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs
- Create opportunities for youth to build assets among their peers and young children
Purpose
The purpose of the Youth Action Council (YAC) is to serve as the prominent voice representing the youth in our community. As a group of dedicated teenagers, YAC focuses on tending to the recreational, leisure, and social needs and interests of young people.
