Recyclebank Recycling Rewards
IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT THE CLOSE OF THE RECYCLEBANK PROGRAM
For the past several years, Morgan Hill residents have had the opportunity earn rewards using the RecycleBank program. Under this program, residents receive points for every pound of recyclables they set out. These points can be redeemed at a variety of local stores, restaurants, and on-line retailers. Since there is a cost to administering the program and only a small percentage of residents are taking advantage of it, the City has asked Recology to end the program effective June 30, 2014. This change will reduce service rates for all residents effective July 1, 2014.
When the Recyclebank program closes in Morgan Hill, members’ accounts will
be closed. You will still be able to access your account, spend your points and even earn points through the learn and earn educational activities on the Recyclebank
. The biggest difference for Recyclebank members after the program closes is that they will no longer be receiving points for recycling. Members will be notified that they will no longer be receiving points via email prior to the date that they will stop receiving points. Any questions or concerns about this change can be directed to Anthony Eulo at

How Does Recyclebank Work?
Recyclebank technology measures and records the amount you recycle, converts it into points and credits your Recyclebank account each time you recycle. All you have to do is bring your recyclables to the curb on your recycling day. The smart tag that is installed on your container(s) will weigh your recyclables and will convert the amount recycled into Recyclebank Points. For every one pound that you recycle, you will earn 2.5 Recyclebank Points. Points will be automatically deposited into your Recyclebank account. Recology South Valley will continue to pick up your recycling as they normally do – nothing changes! The more you recycle, the more points you can earn. And, you continue to help the environment.
