West Little Llagas Creek Trail Extension to Silveira Lake

This is a long-term project that aspires to create a paved bike and pedestrian trail from Downtown to the south end of the City. The vision for the final southern extension of the trail system would create connections around Llagas Creek between Santa Teresa Avenue and Monterey Road, including the Silveira Lake area. This project has been identified through the City’s Bikeways, Trails, Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The Trail system currently stretches from Spring Avenue in the north to just north of Silveira Lake.

The most recent phase of the trail constructed includes the connection of the trail from Watsonville Road south to the northside of Silveira Lake. The next phase of the project on the south side of the Lake is currently in the planning process and the City is looking for grant funding to fund the project.

Along the trail is a new type of traffic control device on Watsonville Road to help make it safer and easier for bicyclists and pedestrians to cross the busy roadway. More information is available on the new device here:

Future Development Update

The trail on the south side of Silveira Lake does not have a scheduled opening date. The City is working with private property owners on the completion and opening this segment from the west side and working to construct a bridge for access from the east side.
