Parks and programming allow for many opportunities to enhance quality of life for residents. Morgan Hill’s Parks and Recreation Division provides programming and services to the community that are focused on adding a community benefit.

Events and programs that are created with community benefit in mind contribute exponentially to the quality of life of residents in the community. Community-wide events bring people from all different backgrounds together, allowing for people to create connections and support systems with their neighbors. When someone has a strong support system, they often see stronger coping skills, and better overall well-being.

Our newest community-wide programming opportunities are hosted at the Magical Bridge Playground. There are a variety of events scheduled to take place over the next several months, and all are free. On Saturday, December 17, 2022, Morgan Hill Parks and Recreation will host a Winter Wonderland event with face painting, art projects, resource tables, hot chocolate and cookies, holiday carol songs, Holiday dance show, Bike Mobile repair services, and much more! The event will run from 3pm to 6pm at Community Park and in the Magical Bridge Playground. On Saturday, February 11, 2023, the Magical Bridge Playground will have a Friendship and Love Celebration from 3pm to 5pm. Stay tuned for additional information online at www.morganhill.ca.gov/magicalbridge.

The COVID-19 pandemic spotlighted the importance of parks and trails within the community. Providing open space for walking, jogging, biking, and active recreation, parks and trails became essential to maintaining mental and physical health. We’ve seen this importance continue. Another key part of parks and trails being essential to a community is the free access to all residents, and the associated health benefits, without having to travel. The City of Morgan Hill’s community services team works to ensure that our local parks are maintained at a level that is safe for all visitors. The team often applies for grant funding to improve parks and playgrounds with additional or updated equipment, such as outdoor fitness equipment and restroom facilities.
