Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training Course Series
The CERT training is a 20-hour, all hazard training program offered by Morgan Hill's Office of Emergency Services. Classes are a combination of online training and a one-day, hands-on skills training sessions.
During the training, residents will learn: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations and Triage, Light Search & Rescue, Team Organization, Disaster Psychology, Terrorism & Incident Command. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, which allows them to focus on more complex tasks.
Registration is required by the first class session and you will receive an email confirmation to attend. Space in this class is limited. This class is free and open to anyone over the age of 12. Minors must be accompanied at all times, including for online Zoom classes, by a parent or legal guardian. Community service hours are available to students who attend with a parent/guardian. IMPORTANT: You must be registered and receive an email confirmation to attend the classes. Attendance required on all days for certification. Participants aged 12 to 17 years may attend with a parent or legal guardian present.
Priority for attendance will be given to Gilroy and Morgan Hill residents. You will be sent an email with the location, schedule, and other administrative details a few days before the class begins.
