Utility-Related Roadwork to Occur Throughout Morgan Hill

Frontier Communications continues to upgrade and install new fiber optic communication cables throughout the city. In some cases, this work includes cutting into the roadway and sidewalk to place new underground conduit that houses the fiber optic cable. Fiber optic cable is also being installed on existing poles in areas of the City that are served overhead.

Work is occurring in multiple area and may include road closures, lane reductions or crews may be required to briefly stop traffic for repositioning. Please be mindful of 72-hour no parking notices and sidewalk closures associated with the work. You may also see paint markings or small flags of varying colors for utilities in your area. These markings are to indicate the locations of other utility lines in the area, and to ensure that damage and outages do not occur as a result of the work the telecommunications company is doing to update or install their cables. This work should not impact your utility service. Utility companies should be using chalk paint so the markings will remain only temporarily.

Frontier Communications is using the subcontractor Golden State Utility Company for the fiber optic cable installation. Golden State Utility Company will be placing door hangers and no parking notices in neighborhoods prior to the start of work.

For information on the Frontier project and service availability, residents can contact Frontier directly at 877-436-0325 (residential), 877-414-1311 (business), or visit https://frontier.com/ for more information. Please drive cautiously through construction areas and follow signage for detours. Whenever possible, utilize alternate routes while the work is being completed. If you have questions or see anything that looks unsafe, please contact the City at engineeringtechs@morganhill.ca.gov. For immediate safety issues, please call 911.

The City has elected to temporarily close sections of Mission View Drive and Eagle View Drive to aid in the prevention and enforcement of unsafe use of the streets in this area. Roadway closures began February 2021 and additional information is available.

Parks and Trails

The project has been awarded to S&H Construction and will be constructing a new play structure, restroom building, picnic area, and parking lot along Butterfield Boulevard. The project is currently undergoing grading operations and installation of underground utilities. Trucks and construction equipment will be entering and exiting the construction site along northbound Butterfield Boulevard. The project has installed the restroom building and begun installation of various hardscapes around the project site. Utility Work in Butterfield Boulevard is ongoing as the water connection for the new building is installed. Work within Butterfield Boulevard will continue through November. The project will also begin electrical connection work within Monterey Road that will result in lane closures beginning November 3 and continuing through February. The public should expect lane and shoulder closures as the project installs utility connections. The public should be mindful of potential shoulder and lane closures to facilitate this work, obey all posted construction signage, and take alternate routes if possible.
