Administrative Citations

Morgan Hill Municipal Code Chapter 1.19 provides for the issuance of administrative citations for Morgan Hill Municipal Code violations. The administrative citation and the establishment of appropriate fines are intended to act as a reasonable deterrent in preventing Municipal Code violations.

Fine Schedule
Unless a different amount is specified by code, the amount of fine payable to the city for an administrative citation, is a fine not exceeding one hundred ($100) dollars for a first violation, not exceeding two hundred ($200) dollars for a second violation of the same ordinance within one year and not exceeding five hundred ($500) dollars for each additional violation of the same ordinance within one year.

Payment
If you have been issued an administrative citation for a Municipal Code violation other than parking, you may pay the citation or request a hearing. Citations may be paid in person at City Hall or via mail.

Hearing Request
Any recipient of an administrative citation may contest that there was a violation of the code or that he or she is the responsible party by completing a hearing request form within thirty (30) days from the issuance of the citation.

To file the hearing request, complete the Administrative Citation Hearing Request Form below. The form must be submitted within thirty (30) calendar days from the issuance of the citation. An advance deposit of the full citation amount must also be received within thirty (30) days of the citation.

If you are contesting the citation and are unable to pay the advance deposit, you may request an Advance Deposit Hardship Waiver within fifteen (15) days from the date the citation was issued. To apply, complete the Advance Deposit Hardship Waiver Form below and carefully review the qualification requirements listed within the form. Please note: any submission that does not include all required documentation will be denied.
